An off-road truck sailed off a jump and hurtled into a crowd at a race in the California desert, pinning bodies beneath it and sending others flying into a chaotic cloud of dust in a crash that killed eight people, authorities and witnesses said Sunday.

OK — so you want to know the energy? Since you're going from the top of a hill to its bottom, you know that all of your gravitational potential energy is going to be changed into kinetic energy. Since the truck applied its brakes you know that some of that energy was lost so instead of Ug = KE = mgh = 0.5mv^2 you get Ug = KE – f <<– f being friction.
To find that friction you can work backwards from momentums. Summation of initial momentums = summation of final momentums since this is an inelastic collision (trucks are moving together afterward). P=mv so sum your momentums initally and after:
(3000 kg)(x m/s) + (3000 kg)(35 m/s) = (6000 kg)(10 m/s)
The mass is 6000kg afterward since the two trucks are stuck together. So you can solve that for x, finding your first truck's speed at impact. From that you can find the difference in energy between what the truck would have had without braking, and then what it had with braking…which gives you your answer.

a suggestion a GPS tracking device what my auntie calls her safety colllars for kitties…so they can roam and enjoy the out doors and give critters a fighting chance too.
My own critters have GPS tracking devices aka collars that are safety ones that will break off and what we jokingly call the GPS device is the bell on the collar.
